Movement

Chiaroscuro, (from Italian chiaro, “light,” and scuro, “dark”) is a technique employed in the visual arts to represent light and shadow. In this painting to capture the strength and power of women, I used the method of Chiaroscuro, together with the colour red. I selected red to symbolize energy, and deliberate palette work, to better capture her movement and grace as a dancer.
